"James Joyce's Ulysses is generally accepted as being the most significant novel of the 20th Century - and yet its basic theme - a day in the life of a Dublin citizen (June 16th, 1904) - on the face of it seems somewhat mundane. This sculpture links the author with his creation. Joyce stands in total self-confidence eyeing his critics (he was banned in Ireland and the USA for many years). The extracts from his novel have been selected by Rowan throughout the day. It is a marvellous concept executed with great skill".
